Do you share my understanding or does it mean something entirely different for you? Well l et’s see how our discussion goes. Text messaging i s an interesting phenomenon. In one sense you are limited in the number of characters that can be sent in a single text message , so many have developed different conventions and shortcuts (e.g., emojis, abbreviations, etc) to convey more information in a t ext (though I have started to notice that with most people having unlimited texting that they will just send multiple texts that individually have nowhere near the character limit). However, sometime s “comprehension” of such messages is affected. Y our cha pter activity is to create an experi ment ( you DO NOT actually need to conduct the experiment , but can to really impress me ) that tests some aspect of text comprehension using text messag ing . Please do not propose a replication of a previous study. The parameters for your experiment are wide open ( except for the variable of Age – do NOT use AGE as a variable ) . The best experiments (as determined by me) will earn 2x the credit normally earned. That is, there may be extra credit available beyond a single student. So be creative, precise , and clear regarding your experiment and ensure your submission is well written.
